This week we planned a very special Daffodil Day that helped us to think about our wellbeing focus- Hope. Every child and adult in the school has planted a daffodil bulb in the hope that we will see a beautiful display of golden flowers in the Spring. We are looking forward to watching them grow in our garden. Zoe, our specialist garden and wildlife teacher, helped us and taught us about daffodil. We are feeling very hopeful!
Join us on a virtual tour of Reception, see our classrooms and outdoor space and learn more about how to apply now for a place in September 2021.
Maths is marvellous! Every day we learn new maths skills, develop our understanding of mathematical concepts and use thinking skills to solve problems. We always take time to explain our reasoning and understanding as this helps us to develop deeper understanding and master the learning. This term we have been focussing on developing secure number and calculation skills in a range of contexts. During play and independent learning time we have explored shape, measure and geometry. Our teaching methods and learning sequences means we have seen children achieve great things this term; developing confidence, fluency and enjoyment of all things mathematical.
Take a look at our sneak peek into maths and you will see how the children are learning new skills, being curious and persevering even when faced with tricky challenges! Teachers and teaching assistants in each class support the children as they learn and to extend their learning so they become maths masters!
We are making sure we keep active and healthy at school. Children benefit from two hours of PE each week with lots of additional active outdoor learning too. We also have daily meditation and mindfulness in classes to support our wellbeing and mental health.
Our sports’ coach, Miss Stringer, has been teaching gymnastics skills this term alongside weekly team sports and multi-skills. In gymnastics the children have been learning new balance, control and movement skills. Learning is progressed through the school so that we develop skills for each age group. Take a look at our gymnastics’ skills in this video.
